Safe zones, wandering and location in care — explained simply.
Location is useful only when the triggering event and response owner are clearly defined.
A location dot does not solve the problem by itself.
In a care organisation, the important question is not simply “Where is the person?” but “Which situation should the team recognise, and what should happen next?” Depending on configuration, a WeTraQ device can provide indoor/outdoor position and zone events. Operational value comes from turning those into a clear response workflow.
Safe-zone example
A zone might represent a care unit, building or defined outdoor area. If a resident with a suitable wearable leaves it, an event can be created and routed with available location context to the responsible team.
Define before deployment
- Which zone matters?
- Who may see location?
- Which event is urgent and which is informational?
- Who acknowledges and who receives escalation?
- How is resolution recorded?
A good configuration reduces nuisance alerts and makes accountability clear.
